Why Ramadan Affects Your Skin
Dehydration
No water intake 12-16 hours leads to trans-epidermal water loss increase of 25-30%
Sleep Disruption
Late nights and early wakings reduce skin repair time and increase cortisol
️
Diet Shifts
Heavy iftar meals and sugary desserts can trigger glycation and inflammation
“I see a 40% increase in dullness and dehydration complaints during Ramadan. The good news: a targeted routine completely prevents this.”
— Dr. Samira Tazi, Dermatologist, Rabat
The Suhoor Skincare Ritual (4:00–5:00 AM)
Keep it minimal. You’re half-asleep and need speed. Focus on hydration that lasts through the day.
Step 1
Gentle Cleanse
Splash with lukewarm water or use a micellar water. No foaming cleansers — they’ll strip the barrier you’re about to stress all day.
Step 2
Hydrating Essence or Toner
Layer 2-3 times if you have time. Hyaluronic acid or glycerin-based to pull water into the skin.
Step 3
Niacinamide 10% Serum
3-4 drops. Strengthens your barrier before the dehydration stress begins. Shop →
Step 4
SPF 50+ (Non-Negotiable)
You’ll be out for morning prayers. Apply 1/4 teaspoon to face and neck. Reapply if you return home and go out again.
Daytime: Protect What You Built
The “No Touch” Rule
During fasting hours, your skin has no internal water reserve to draw from. Every time you touch your face, you transfer bacteria and disrupt the protective film you’ve created. Keep hands off.
If you work outdoors: Keep a mineral SPF powder in your bag for reapplication over makeup or bare skin. Unlike liquid SPF, powders don’t require rubbing that disturbs your barrier.
The Iftar Reset (Sunset)
Your skin has been without water and fighting UV all day. Now is the time to repair — but not with 10 products.
Immediately
Drink Water First
2-3 glasses before eating. Your skin’s hydration starts from within.
After Eating
Double Cleanse
Oil-based first to remove SPF and pollution, then gentle water-based cleanser. This is essential — SPF residue left overnight clogs dehydrated pores.
Evening Treatment
Choose Your Active
Option A: Retinol Serum (2x weekly) for anti-aging
Option B: Brightening Cream for radiance recovery
Option C: Extra hydrating mask if skin feels tight
Ramadan Special
Brightening Cream
Vitamin C + kojic acid + papaya enzymes. Restores the “fasting dullness” glow without irritation. Light enough for humid iftar evenings.
Night Repair: The Collagen Window
Optimal timing: Take your Marine Collagen in your post-iftar tea. The amino acids support overnight repair when your skin is in its most active regeneration phase (11 PM–2 AM).
The Ramadan Sleep-Hack
If you’re sleeping 5-6 hours instead of 8, prioritize quality over quantity. Silk pillowcase, room temperature at 18-20°C, and our Retinol Night Cream to maximize the repair time you do have.
5 Mistakes That Ruin Ramadan Skin
Overloading at 2 AM
Using 8 products because you “missed your routine all day.” This overwhelms dehydrated skin and causes breakouts.
Skipping SPF “Because I’m Fasting”
UV doesn’t care if you’re fasting. Morning prayer = sun exposure. No exceptions.
Sugar-Heavy Iftar Desserts
Baklava, dates in excess, sugary drinks = glycation = collagen breakdown. Limit to 1 small portion, eat protein first.
Harsh Exfoliation to “Wake Up” Skin
Dehydrated skin is vulnerable. Scrubs and strong acids during fasting create micro-tears and PIH.
No Water Till Iftar = No Skincare Till Iftar
You can apply products before suhoor that work all day. Don’t wait until sunset to start caring for your skin.
